Deciding whether to repair or replace my asphalt shingles is difficult in Greensboro, NC

I am having problems deciding whether to repair or replace my asphalt shingles. Asphalt roofing seems to be a good option in the Greensboro, NC area. I also worry that the repairs will stand out because the older shingles will have faded over time.

I found out that there are three main types of asphalt shingles to choose from in the Greensboro, NC area.
·         3 tab shingles: The three tab shingles are the most common type of asphalt roofing product. This product is less expensive than other asphalt shingles may be.  It will do the job it was designed for. This type of asphalt roofing material generally comes with a standard warranty of 20 to 50 years. This is the type of shingle that is presently on my home, and if I chose to repair the roof instead of replacing it, I would have to use this type.

·         Dimensional shingles: This type of shingle is also known as architectural shingles. They provide an almost three dimensional look to your roof. This type of asphalt roofing material is one of the highest quality roofing materials on the market, and can often provide a dramatic appearance. Dimensional asphalt shingles can often mimic cedar shakes or slate roofing in appearance.

·         Specialty shingles: Specialty shingles can make a statement that will not go unnoticed. They are generally the most expensive choice in asphalt shingles. However, they are also an extremely high quality product and in some cases come with a warranty that extends from 50 years to a lifetime. What this means to people considering a new roof is that while the cost may be a bit higher than other options; this would be a one-time only investment in your home.

I have gained a lot of information about asphalt shingles and residential roofing companies in my Greensboro, NC area. When I do finally reach a decision about the project I will be able to make an informed decision. This made the most sense to me as a first step in the decision process, especially after I read their positive customer reviews. If you are wondering, should I repair or replace my asphalt shingles, give the trustworthy roofers today, and ask them to come out and give a free estimate!
